Wings Over Charlotte County will take off on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, to pay tribute to first responders and healthcare workers.

The fly-over will also include a special honor to veterans at the Welcome Home Vietnam Veteran’s 2020 event, according to officials with the Florida International Air Show, who are organizing the fly-over.

The flyover will feature aircraft from the World War II, Korea, and Vietnam eras. Fixed wing aircraft will be flown by veterans representing the Veterans Airlift Command. Huey helicopters from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department and Lee Mosquito Control will also take part in the fly-over.

Aircraft will depart Punta Gorda Airport (KPGD) at 1:30 p.m., flying over Punta Gorda and the Charlotte Harbor waterfront, proceeding to Charlotte Sports Park to over-fly opening ceremonies of the “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans” event, then circling back to perform the “Missing Man” formation honoring those lost in combat. It will then continue on to Englewood, flying the beachfronts of Manasota Key and Boca Grande, then returning over Charlotte Harbor from Boca Grande pass to KPGD.
