It’s February, love must be in the air

February is here, so love must be in the air—and you can be, too. Clean the windscreen, dust off your headset, and warm the oil in your airplane’s engine with a flight. Pick somewhere new, revisit a favorite airfield, or consider a few laps around your home airport to knock off the winter rust; just make sure to document your flying adventures and then post them to Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.

You can easily plan your flight with iFlightPlanner for AOPA and a look at the local conditions via AOPA Weather powered by SiriusXM Aviation—both provide data in a mobile-friendly format.

AOPA Social Media Marketer Kevin Cortes recently vowed to broaden his horizons with flights to different airports that he hasn’t yet visited. The VFR pilot and instrument student planned to visit several airfields that were new to him in an effort to best a colleague during a friendly flying competition that began on a return flight from EAA AirVenture 2019 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Frederick, Maryland. Cortes planned to earn bragging rights by documenting the airfields with pictures posted to Instagram and other social media.

Take a page from Cortes’s book and post your own photos, thoughts, and reviews through the AOPA app’s Pilot Passport feature for a chance to score some nifty new AOPA Pilot Gear, including aviation-themed packing cubes.

If you don’t have the AOPA app, download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play so that you can take part in the February Love is in the Air Challenge (see the official rules).
