Win a flight in a Spitfire

British Aerobatics is repeating its annual Win a Flight in a Spitfire raffle with a twist: friends and family can fly alongside in an Airvan GA8 chase aircraft.

The 30-minute flight, with a minimum of 20 minutes airborne, will take place from London Biggin Hill Airport. The aircraft will be the two-seat t9 Spitfire provided by Fly A Spitfire.

“At the pilot’s discretion, you may take control of the Spitfire,” said the raffle organiser.

“The prize also includes a free digital video of your flight, a framed flight certificate, a souvenir Flight Patch and the opportunity for photographs by the Spitfire you just flew.

“In addition to your experience, up to four people can share your trip-of-a-lifetime by taking a seat in the modern, fully equipped GA8 Chase Plane and fly alongside your Spitfire.

“Through panoramic windows passengers can exchange waves with you and capture video and photographs air-to-air.  When you peel away to continue your experience, the Chase Plane will then return to Biggin Hill in time to see the Spitfire return and land.”

Total value of the prize is more than £3,200 and British Aerobatics says players will have a 1 in 1,000 chance of winning.

“Proceeds from the raffle will go towards the British Aerobatic Team training and support fund in preparation for World and European Championships,” said the organiser.

“British Aerobatics will also make a donation to The Douglas Bader Foundation who, since 1982, have worked tirelessly to advance and promote the physical, mental and spiritual welfare of persons who are without one or more limbs, or otherwise physically disabled.”
